Goal Sculptures are instant and accidental � they just kind of happen as you walk around a deserted sports field, one goal intersecting with another three pitches away. They exist as relationships between you, some white posts, and space around you both. It�s what might happen if you spliced the DNA of Richard Long with John Motson. It feels like you�re walking around, just making sculptures with your eyes, deciding when it�s right. I guess the question is what is �right�. It�s partly formal, partly about framing, partly deforming recognisable structures by scale and juxtaposition, and partly turning subverting something that�s ostensibly functional into something aestheticised.
